Free Music Download: Harvey Danger
From the first time I heard the infectious, in your face, and decidedly sardonic song Flagpole Sitta, I was a Harvey Danger fan. Somehow, I missed the fact that their last effort, Little by Little… was released as a DRM-free download on the artist’s website. The band simply asks that if you like the work, share it with friends and consider making a donation. In addition to the download, you can purchase a CD and receive a 30-minute bonus disc.
In a press statement, the band writes:
Given our unusual history, and a long-held sense that the practice now being demonized by the music biz as âillegalâ file sharing can be a friend to the independent musician, we have decided to embrace the indisputable fact of music in the 21st century, put our money where our mouth is, and make our record, Little By Littleâ¦, available for download…
The first track is a kicky little tune called, “Wine, Women, and Song”. Sean Nelson’s vocals blend with a sparse, yet rich piano accompaniment, as raw guitar riff’s float over the top. That’s just the beginning. From there you’re treated to a rich tapestry of music and vocals, combined with wonderfully snarky lyrical introspection. I’ve only listened once so far, but plan to spend much more time enjoying this record.
Enjoy!
