Soda for Grown-ups

OK, so I’ve been busy… cut me some slack! Here’s something to whet your whistle:

On a recent trip to San Francisco, I discovered the best soda ever — it’s called GuS. It’s slightly sweet, lightly flavored, and absolutely refreshing. I tried the Dry Meyer Lemon and was hooked… I couldn’t get enough! I can’t wait to try Dry Cranberry Lime.

One small problem, it’s not sold here in Oregon. The closest place listed on the GuS website is Whole Foods in Seattle. Hmm, I wonder if the store here can order it. Must find out.

Larry ‘Bud’ Melman dead at 81

Larry ‘Bud’ Melman died today at the age of 81. As a long time Late Night with David Letterman fan, I will never forget those zany interviews where Larry ‘Bud’ Melman often held the microphone in front of his own mouth while his subject spoke, and then reversed the position when he spoke.

Here’s my all time favorite… Larry ‘Bud’ Melman handing out hot towels at the Port Authority Bus Terminal. Calvert DeForest RIP.

O’ How I Love Thee

If you haven’t tried Starbucks’ Tazo Green Tea Frappuccino Blended CrÃ¨me, you just don’t know what you are missing. It’s a wonderfully sweet, creamy blend, topped with whipped cream.

The best way to enjoy these is during the summer when it’s served as the Blackberry Green Tea Frappuccino Blended CrÃ¨me. During the winter, I simply ask for raspberry syrup (instead of the standard melon)… it’s a close match.

At a whopping 500 calories, I’ve had to limit myself to just one a week– my Friday tradition. After all, I’m trying to get back in shape.
